TIGER Time- Reader's Workshop

School-Wide Literacy 7:30am-8:20am

How can we instill the love of reading in our students?  Reading Workshop is a powerful way to structure our literacy block. By allowing our students to choose books that interest them, we can foster a love of reading that will last a lifetime. During this time, students will be reading independently, in partners, or small groupsThis is also a wonderful opportunity to have "Book Clubs/Circles" (also known as Literature Circles).  Teachers will have the opportunity to conference with every student at least once every two weeks!  Research shows that when children spend more time reading, they become better readers. With direct guidance and on-going encouragement from a teacher who loves to read, students can learn to select appropriate books, work cooperatively with others, and discover the joy of reading.
